The world just got a bit smaller, well in terms of URLs anyway. With the release of the new country URLs, businesses have the opportunity to shift from their traditional .co.nz or .net.nz structure to purely .nz e.g. blackfoot.nz.

This change will allow consumers to find sites more easily. If you have a .co.nz you will probably have automatic rights to the .nz version of your URL unless another party has, for example a .net.nz version. If there is no conflict you have 12 months to register the .nz URL before it goes up for grabs. If your domain is being hosted by Blackfoot we will be automatically reserving your .nz for you. If you are in a situation where there is a conflict, there is a structured resolution process that we can help you work through. If we are hosting your domain we will be in touch if we find a conflict.
